Nice to meet you…

We’re Richard and Kris, the husband and wife team behind Rich Clapp photography. Kris has spent much of her career in the holiday industry and brings the organisation element to the business. My photography career began over 25 years ago – back in the dark ages or dark room long before digital was a thing (those were the days!).

It was when my own children came along that my love of photography was born, fast forward a few decades & now I’m photographing theirs.

Wedding photography has always played a big part of the business, and for several years was the mainstay. I’ve had the privilege of photographing some incredible weddings that took me all over the UK and overseas to France, Spain and the Channel Islands.  Spending so much time on the road lead me to a change of direction and for a few years I stepped back taking a break from photography.

Once a photographer always a photographer and in 2025 I picked up my trusted Cannon and I find myself back where I belong, behind the camera.

Studio Project

Whilst a little of my previous work can be seen on my website nearly all of it is on location. My project this year and next is to return to studio portraiture.

There is a real art in creating a studio image in front of a simple backdrop. Remove the distraction of props and sets and the subject whether it’s a dog, child or adult are put in the spotlight.  Studio portraiture shouldn’t be stuffy, complicated or contrived in my opinion. It’s an opportunity to bring out the character and personality, to create timeless portraits you would be proud to hand on the wall.
